birds are back

i've been working on this piece for a long time. the nest of trapped birds is now accompanied by the yellow-throated warbler, a local non endangered species. set below is the nest from the front view.

it has been a long time since my last post, i have a lot of catching up to do, here is a start!


featured below are images from the class i taught at the st. louis artist guild that ended back in April 2010. there was such a distinct variety of wonderful prints made throughout the duration of the class that i just had to share.

call for worn out fabric/clothing!!!

two years ago many people contributed to a project that involved the creation of something new from reclaimed fibers previously owned by the people who have been a part of my life. the response was fantastic but now i am sending out a new call for more fabric from all the people who missed out on the chance to contribute back then!  The project is in full swing and I need more fibers.  everything from old socks to worn out jeans- it's all good.  send me an email and let's get this thing rolling!  if you are looking at this blog this means you.

monotypes

i've been having a lot of fun teaching a woodcut and monotype/monoprint class for the past several weeks, today i spent the day in the shop just having fun with monotypes! its been a while since i simply played with oil based inks on plexi glass, but it was just as much fun as i remembered.

I started with simple stencils and flats

then moved on to more abstract techniques

i ran this through the press a total of four times but i don't have the shots. wonderful to start from scratch and build a one of a kind print slowly, then be able to leave with a complete print at the end of the day.

just some moments i thought were really beautiful....and the right colors.
