Woven Rug



last year an old friend passed away. his son gave me a garbage bag full of old clothing and slowly but surely i have been turning the materials into new and functional objects.
This is a woven rug.

This is the Baby Surprise Jacket- surprise because when you are finished knitting it it looks like a very strange little object


but after you sew 2 seems together you have a wonderful little garment!

Hine's Emerald Dragonfly (Somatochlora hineana)



these are the molds are making for my Hine's Emerald Dragonfly
instillation. the dragonflies will be made with recycled paper pressed into the molds
and colored with natural dyes and soy paint. these guys are currently listed as endangered
by the Chicago Field Office, thought extinct, small isolated populations have recently been discovered in new regions of the US.

This is the beginning of a new project, in this particular piece the bird had to be moved manually down the thread in order for in to dive into the pit and out through the hole in the bottom.
